A Little Part Of Colin Trevorrow’s Star Wars: Episode IX Lives On

The Book of Henry and Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow was originally meant to helm the third and final film in Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy, unfortunately the filmmaker was fired from his position as director of Star Wars: Episode IX in September 2017 because of "creative differences."

While Episode IX's production seems to be coming along just fine with Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams taking over the project, at least on part of Trevorrow's version of the film continues to live on – but this time in a theme park.

Disney just recently opened the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge theme park in Anaheim, California, and according to a report by Collider, it includes a little space craft designed by Trevorrow. Placed alongside full-scale versions of popular Star Wars ships like an X-Wing Tie Fighter and the Millennium Falcon, we get to see a First Order TIE Echelon. Created by Trevorrow, the vessel serves as a transport ship for members of the First Order. The ship's design was based on actual military aircraft like the Blackhawk stealth helicopter.

Collider spoke with Trevorrow about the origin of the ship, asking whether if any part of the First Order TIE Echelon would be seen in The Rise of Skywalker when the film premieres later this year.

"I'm pretty sure you know the answer to that, but I respect the question," he said. "Honestly, I'm just proud to have been a part of it. I love that ship. Put my ashes in it, man."

Well, at least it's in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
