7 of the Weirdest Pokemon From Sword & Shield Get Crazy Cards

The upcoming Pokemon TCG set Rebel Clash features various pocket monsters from Sword and Shield featured in the trading card game for the first time, and IGN has revealed a first look at the seven new cards from the expansion, and they feature some weird Gen 8 Pokemon.

Galarian Mr. Mime and its evolution, Galarian Mr. Rime are definitely two of the weirdest Pokemon we've seen. Galarian Mr. Rime's "Screen Cleaner" ability can protect your Pokemon from the effects of your opponent's attacks.

Flapple

Appletun

These delicious-looking Pokemon make for pretty decent cards, but they don't seem viable in the current Standard card pool. Flapple's "Apple Drop" ability could potentially unleash a combo where the goal is to continually loop Flapples on the field, into the deck, and back out again in order to hit opponents repeatedly, so that might be useful with the release of future sets.

Boltund V

Boltund V is probably the best card of these seven. For one Lightning energy, its Electrify attack can accelerate two Lightning from the deck onto your Benched Pokemon. It can also be a strong attacker with its Bolt Storm ability, which deals more damage if you have more Lightning energy on your side of the field.

Malamar V and VMAX

Valamar VMAX's "Max Jammer" attack can deal a powerful 180 damage, great against opponent's VMAXes, but it also lets you take the best card in your opponent's hard and put it on the bottom of their deck.

Pokémon TCG: Sword & Shield—Rebel Clash is set to release its English version on May 1.
