Kelly Reilly teases the Yellowstone Season 5 villains, stating that they would be influenced by actual events in Montana.
Yellowstone follows the Dutton family, owners of the Yellowstone, Montana's largest ranch, as they deal with land developers, a neighboring Indian reservation, and a national park.
The fifth season began filming in June in Missoula, Montana, with all production taking place in the state beginning with the fourth season. Yellowstone has already hinted at the possible return of a former foe from the second season.
Yellowstone Season 5: Beth Actor Hints Upcoming Show’s Villains
Kelly Reilly, who plays Beth Dutton, talks about the increasing villains that the protagonists will face up against in the next season in an interview with Vulture.
She explains how the season's premise is based on true events, such as billionaires buying up enormous tracts of property in Montana in order to develop it, causing environmental and economic worries.
“It’s like what is really happening in Montana. It is being bought up by billionaires. People come here because they love what I just showed you, but they’re going to destroy it because they come here,” Reilly said.
“The amount of cement, and building, and taking from the land. Where’s the water going to be cleared for the sewage? What is the effect on the environment? They can’t protect it without playing dirty.”
The actress also discusses how the Duttons will have to take extraordinary steps to secure their property from intruders.
Greedy antagonists are a recurring subject in Sheridan's work, as shown in earlier seasons of Yellowstone in his films Hell or High Water and Those Who Wish Me Dead. The Duttons of Yellowstone, with their continued development and influence, will provide an interesting clash with the new villains, who have their own money and power.
Yellowstone Season 5 release date
Yellowstone Season 5 will air on Paramount+ on Nov. 13, with creator Tyler Sheridan anticipated to write every episode, as he has for the previous seasons. Kevin Costner, Luke Grimes, Wes Bentley, and Gil Birmingham join Reilly on the show.
Fans will have to wait and see what Reilly is referring to when it comes to the villains that the Duttons will confront in Yellowstone Season 5. The program is already shaping up to be one of the few current Westerns that is both engaging and exhilarating for fans of the genre.
