A real big challenge for Yellowjackets Season 2 is casting a huge name while aggressively keeping it secret from everybody. In the case of Liv Hewson, a seasoned star’s name came up courtesy of the show’s fans: Drew Barrymore.

The smash Showtime series, which follows a group of high school soccer players stuck in the woods following a plane crash – as well as their future lives – has been the talk of the town since its launch a few months ago.

With Season 2 already in the works, fan speculation on who might play the older versions of some of the characters has reached a fever pitch.

Yellowjackets Season 2: Drew Barrymore as Adult Van?

In a new interview with Digital Spy, Hewson, of course, couldn't reveal if her character survives her time in the wilderness; but, she did comment on some of the names that fans have suggested for the older version of her character:

“Every time anybody is suggested, I am always super-flattered, because the people who get thrown around are so talented and amazing, like Lauren Ambrose or Merritt Wever. Just everybody.
“I’m like, ‘Yeah, that’d be great, that’d be great.’ ‘What?’ ‘I don’t know.’ ‘Yes, I’d love it if Julia Stiles played an older version of me. What are you talking about? That’d be lovely.'

Asked about the possibility of Barrymore playing the adult Van, Hewson said:

"Wouldn't that be fun?" though revealed she hasn't asked her about it.

"We haven't spoken about it, actually, but that would be a fun nod to us having worked together before.”

Hewson appeared in Santa Clarita Diet playing the daughter of Barrymore's character, opposite Timothy Olyphant.

Who is Alive in Present-Day Yellowjackets?

At the moment, we believe the producers are trying to keep as much of this a secret as possible. We know Jackie is dead because she was shown to be dead in the show and was honored at her high school reunion.

We didn't see the entire reunion, so it's possible that some other classmates were honored; it's also possible that there are still people alive that we haven't seen yet. Lottie, for example, was seemingly confirmed as being out there in the final minutes of the finale.

We’ll have all the answers when Yellowjackets Season 2 arrives, albeit we’ll have to wait.
