While we wait for upcoming live-action Star Wars TV shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022), The Mandalorian Season 3 (TBA), and Ahsoka (TBA), many Star Wars fans are wondering exactly how things will pan out in what is now being dubbed the "MandoVerse".

While The Book of Boba Fett (2021) has already featured many characters from The Mandalorian (2019), such as Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), and Grogu, as well as Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) himself, is a Star Wars crossover movie event inevitable? Well, there are plenty of clues that suggest this will be the case.
In fact, it's something that Disney and Lucasfilm have previously hinted at, saying that The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka, will all "culminate in a crossover event". Said-event would have also included Rangers of the New Republic, however, following the Gina Carano controversy, that show has been put on indefinite hold.

Regardless of what happens with that show, tying The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka together makes absolute sense. Not only has Ahsoka already appeared in the two formers shows, Din Djarin and Boba Fett have also appeared in each other's shows, while all three orbit the same period of time - five years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983).
Characters from The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett will likely appear in the upcoming Ahsoka series too, with Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), Luke Skywalker, and Din Djarin, being the most likely, given their existing relationships with the Togruta Jedi. But what we really want to know is whether the relationship between these three shows will result in an actual movie.

Another show that needs to be taken into account is Obi-Wan Kenobi, which will see Ewan McGregor reprise his role of the titular Jedi, having played him in all three films in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. In fact, recently, Lucasfilm director Kathleen Kennedy hinted that Obi-Wan Kenobi may even cross over with The Mandalorian.

However, this does raise some questions, as Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005), which means that another 18 years are to pass before we reach the same period of time as The Mandalorian. On the other hand, Din Djarin could easily appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi. In fact, so could Grogu.
Unlike the infamously-directionless Star Wars sequel trilogy, it looks like Disney and Lucasfilm might actually have a plan in place for the MandoVerse. How a show like Obi-Wan Kenobi could fit into this, though, is unknown, but we do know that Din Djarin and Grogu are alive at the time the show is set. And who knows - maybe Obi-Wan is the one who saved Grogu from Order 66.

As for the three shows that follow the original Star Wars Trilogy, seeing these cross-over would feel natural given their existing relationships. But what fans are really wondering is whether a crossover event would take on the form of a movie. If this does happen, we would get a new Star Wars movie that's neither part of the Skywalker Saga or a spin-off of any kind.
But would it be released in theaters, or straight onto Disney+? The latter is the most likely to happen, but we can't deny that seeing these characters on the big screen for the first time (with the exception of Boba Fett, of course), would send chills down our spines. For now, we'll just have to see how things pan out in Obi-Wan Kenobi, which releases on Disney+ on May 25.

While The Mandalorian Season 3 and Ahsoka are still in production, no release dates have been confirmed as yet, although Andor (2022) will be arriving sometime this summer. It's possible that the Rogue One spin-off will even form some kind of connection with the other shows, as it takes place a few years before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), with Diego Luna reprising his role as Cassion Andor.
It looks like there are some exciting times ahead, and it's a great time to be a Star Wars fan. The sequels might have let us down in ways we never thought possible, but where the faraway galaxy is concerned, there's always a new hope...
