SK8 the Infinity Season 2 will be so much of a delight of the fans of the skateboarding anime series following the "S" where a secret no-holds-barred competition between skaters and their beef happens in an abandoned mine in Okinawa after the clock strikes twelve.

SK8 the Infinity is just peculiar as more often than not; the anime series comes after the manga series. Well, that is not the case in this anime as not only did the anime series went out first, the spin-off of the manga had its release two months prior to the seinen manga series.

The manga series of the same name by Kazuto Kōjima was released via BookLive! e-books in March 2021 while the spin-off of the manga, SK8 Chill Out! by Toriyasu went out in Kadokawa Shonen's Young Ace Up alongside the anime series in January 2021.

SK8 the Infinity is directed by Hiroko Utsumi and animated by Bones which just premiered in January this year and with only a few episodes left. The series airs in Funimation every Sunday at 2 AM JST in its original Japanese audio with English subtitles and knowing that Funimation is having English dubbed versions of other animes in its library, the same case could also happen for SK8 the Infinity but there is no news yet as regards that.

Funimation also treats SK8 the Infinity like that of other animes in its roster where there is the privilege of one-week earlier streaming of animes under its library when one is subscribed to its premium access for the rate of $5.99 per month or $59.99 a year, while for those without a premium access subscription, the episodes are released for the general public a week after the premium release for free.

SK8 the Infinity follows the story of a high school student, Reki Kyan who studies during the day and skates during the night. He met a new transfer from Canada, Langa Hasegawa, who he brought to the "S" and got him interested in skating. Langa has a background in snowboarding which makes it easier for him to master skateboarding as the two sports are almost the same sans the snow and plus wheels.

There is no surprise that the series piqued the interest of many especially those who love skateboarding. The genre of sports in anime comes with a great demand that there are not many titles that are centered in sports. Animes that are about sports show their viewers, especially children, how sports play an important role in one's development yielding results of a healthier lifestyle and perseverance in making oneself better.

SK8 the Infinity is in no doubt a sports anime considering that the highlight of the series is skateboarding and how the characters are connected because of the said sport. It also depicts how players can sometimes be frustrated like Reki or too determined to the point they lose sight of their passion in the sport like Adam.

SK8 the Infinity hits close to home as sports are fundamentally one of the best ways to educate people in following their passion in sports and how sports instill values of determination, perseverance, and discipline in oneself which is extremely important in character building.

That being said, various reviews from both critics and viewers result in asking for another season for SK8 the Infinity.

To date, there has been no confirmation yet as to whether there would be a second season for SK8 the Infinity but the possibility of having another season is highly likely as the anime series have staggering high ratings and the fans and viewers are clamoring for more to the skateboarding anime series.

If to be given another season, there is still a lot of material for the anime series considering that it was released first before the manga series. Because of this, there sure is more to the story than what has been already released in the anime series. Not only that, but there also exists a spin-off sequel which means that the anime series has so much content to pull from and translate it to the screens via the anime series.

If season 2 will be happening, the best chance is it would be released sometime next year to give ample time to the makers and producers of the show to map out the stories they would be using and to plan the second season out, not to mention that the anime series would still need to go through pre-production, production, and post-production.

It is expected that if there would be a season 2, the episode count will still be the same which is 12 episodes, but the doors are not entirely boxed on the said number of episodes and it can even have more than 12 episodes.

SK8 the Infinity airs every Sunday at 2 AM JST via Funimation.
