Will Smith has been making headlines for weeks now following his violent outburst on the Oscar stage on March 27. Most, if not all, fans can recall that the King Richard actor walked on stage and slapped Chris Rock across the face due to the latter's comedic monologue that included a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head.

The wife of Will Smith, who was also present in the audience, had shaved her head since 2021 due to alopecia areata. After slapping Chris Rock, the Aladdin star returned to his seat and shouted angry interjections at the ceremony host that included some profanities.

Are Will Smith And Family Banned In Hollywood Already?

Globe, in its upcoming April 25, 2022 issue, reported that the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences is looking into all legal options even though Will Smith voluntarily resigned his members from the organization after slapping Chris Rock during the recent ceremonies.

Chris' joke may have been in poor taste since Jada Pinkett Smith has divulged her battle with alopecia, an autoimmune disorder that causes hair loss, but Will has instantly become the receiving end of criticisms due to his shocking outburst.

An unnamed source told the entertainment news outlet:

"Will is a bully and few are buying that he's really, truly sorry. Will's growing more unpopular by the day and his arrogant attitude will not be tolerated."

The same insider added:

"[Jada's] cockiness isn't helping and footage of her laughing after the slap drives home the belief that she thinks the attack on Chris was well-deserved."

The tipster even said Will Smith's children, Jaden and Willow, have blown it all off to focus on their careers, which underlines the "whole family's aura of self-entitlement." It furthered:

"They've gone from the A-list to outcasts."

Just days following the controversial slapping incident, the Academy announced Will Smith would be barred from attending the Oscars for 10 years due to the "harmful behavior" he displayed during last month's ceremony.

In an open letter released after a meeting of the 54 governors, Academy president David Rubin and chief executive Dawn Hudson called the actor's behavior "unacceptable" and admitted to not handling the situation properly during the telecast.

The statement read:

“For this, we are sorry. This was an opportunity for us to set an example for our guests, viewers and our Academy family around the world, and we fell short — unprepared for the unprecedented.”

Will Smith, in a statement, stated:

"I accept and respect the Academy's decision."

"The impact of the backlash has hit Will hard, so he will be getting help on dealing with stress. This is unquestionably the battle of his career. It will be a high-end retreat used by the rich and famous and he will be doing a lot of soul searching and working out how he can move forward."

An unnamed source told The Sun that Will Smith hopes to return in time to save his career and reputation. Most, if not all, fans are aware that Netflix and Sony have suspended the production of two movies that the actor was shooting, namely: Bad Boys 4, and Fast and Loose.

Public relations expert Mike Paul told The New York Times when asked about Will Smith that "his brand is currently damaged goods worldwide." Fans expect it would take some time before the father of Willow and Jaden appears in another movie again.
