Whoopi Goldberg started in the entertainment business as an actress until she became known as a talk show host, author, and political activist. Surely, the 66-year-old star has come a long way, proving her success in the field.

According to her Wikipedia page, Goldberg started her career with a one-woman show, Spook Show, on stage in 1983. She then made it big and conquered Broadway with her eponymous show that ran from 1984 to 1985.

Her film breakthrough came in 1985 with the Steven Spielberg period drama movie The Color Purple, earning her the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama.

Come 1990, she was seen in Ghost and received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress and her second Golden Globe Award.

She then led her iconic movie Sister Act in 1992, followed by its sequel Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit in 1993. This film series made her the highest-paid actress at the time.

The other films she did were Jumpin' Jack Flash, Clara's Heart, Soapdish, and Ghosts of Mississippi. She also lent her voice to the animated movies The Lion King and Toy Story 3.

On stage, Goldberg did Stephen Sondheim's musical A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, August Wilson's play Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, and the stage adaptation of Sister Act.

Whoopi Goldberg Reacts to the Till Review

Goldberg can't help but respond to the critic who said she was wearing "a distracting fat suit" in hew new Emmett Till biopic movie Till after the film's New York Film Festival premiere.

"There was a young lady who writes for one of the magazines, and she was distracted by my fat suit in her review," she said on the Monday episode of The View.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the now-deleted review was published in The Daily Beast.

"I don't really care how you felt about the movie, but you should know that was not a fat suit, that was me...," she continued. "I assume you don't watch the show, or you would know that was not a fat suit."

An editor's note in the story indicated that the review had been updated to reflect that Goldberg was not wearing a fat suit in the film.
