Watch the Alien Movies Free: January 2022 Update

  • All 8 Alien movies are available to rent or purchase on Amazon Prime and YouTube Movies.

Alien is a landmark film in both science fiction and horror, and following its release in 1979, set the stage for many like-minded movies throughout the '80s. But it also spawned many sequels, which lasted the franchise-killing Alien: Resurrection (which is a lot worse than you might remember, but still fun in its own right!).

The franchise was revisited - in hybrid form, at least - in 2004 with Alien vs. Predator, which also got its own sequel in 2007 (a film that's arguably worse than Resurrection). And in 2012, Alien director Ridley Scott returned to the original canon with the prequel Prometheus, which he followed up in 2017 with Alien: Covenant.

But while the series is a bit all over the place, here are all the movies you need to watch to complete an honest binge:

  • Alien (1979)
  • Aliens (1986)
  • Alien 3 (1992)
  • Alien: Resurrection (1997)
  • Alien vs. Predator (2004)
  • Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007)
  • Prometheus (2012)
  • Alien: Covenant (2017)

The question is, where can you find them all? Let's find out...

Despite Alien now being a Disney property (yes, they're the real Weyland-Yutani!), it's not currently showing on Disney+. Home to the likes of 'Star Wars', 'Marvel', 'Pixar', National Geographic', ESPN, STAR and so much more, Disney+ is available at the annual membership fee of $79.99, or the monthly cost of $7.99. If you're a fan of even one of these brands, then signing up to Disney+ is definitely worth it, and there aren't any ads, either. We're sure the Alien movies will show up on here soon, though. Stay frosty.

But if you're still interested in the service, it's $14.99 per month, which gives you full access to the entire vault, and is also ad-free, or $9.99 per month with ads. However, the annual versions for both are cheaper, with the ad-free plan at $150 and the ad-supported plan at $100.

Like Amazon Prime, every single one of the eight Alien movies (that includes the AvP spin-offs) are available to rent or purchase on YouTube Movies!

A new TV series based on the movies is currently in production, which creator Noah Hawley has described as "class warfare with xenomorphs", taking inspiration from the 'blue-collar worker' themes of the original movie. And meanwhile, a fifth Predator movie titled Skulls is set to release in theaters this year, which will serve as a prequel to the entire franchise.
