Even though Netflix just released The Umbrella Academy Season 3 in June 2022, avid fans can't help but wonder if a fourth season is underway.
Netflix has confirmed the big news in August 2022.The Umbrella Academy Season 4 is coming but without a release date yet.
The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Release Date: Is It Coming Out?
Right now, Netflix has not yet renewed The Umbrella Academy franchise. Series creator, Steve Blackman, told The Hollywood Reporter: "We haven't been picked up-- I have my fingers crossed."
Considering The Umbrella Academy is one of Netflix's most successful shows, it's likely that at least one more season could be released. Not to mention, Season 3 ended with several cliffhangers. Fans will definitely want to get answers to these questions.
If ever Netflix releases The Umbrella Academy Season 4, we can expect it to be released sometime in 2024. That's because Netflix will still have to complete the storyline, assemble its cast, and start filming. Then there's the length of time the material will have to go into post-production work. If all goes well, a 2024 release could be the most logical timeline for The Umbrella Academy's fourth season.
To note, the wait between The Umbrella Academy Season 1 and Season 2 was only 17 months. Meanwhile, the release of Season 3 was delayed for two years due to the pandemic. If there are no delays, The Umbrella Academy Season 4 could be announced next year.
In the last week of August 2022, Netflix confirmed that they are renewing The Umbrella Academy for another season. This will also be its final season.
Will There Be More The Umbrella Academy Seasons?
There is no official confirmation on this as well. But there are reports that The Umbrella Academy Season 4 could be the last.
The series creator told TheWrap: "I think inevitably if we got a season 4, it's going towards an endgame. I think at a certain point, I'm not sure where we'd go after Season 4. We have to be careful."
Blackman shares that "I think if we got to season four, it would be a great ending for the run of the show. I'm not saying I couldn't do more, but you know, I think that would be very satisfying for the audience, four seasons."
He also shared that he planned to have four seasons when it (The Umbrella Academy) first started. The show is based on My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way's comic series. It was illustrated by Gabriel Bá.
The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Plot
Cliffhanger season finales are no stranger to The Umbrella Academy franchise. These simply open up a lot of theories on which direction the series could go next. But if there's one thing to look forward to in The Umbrella Academy Season 4, it would be the battle between the Umbrellas and the Hargreeves.
And now that the powers of the Umbrellas are gone, it'll be interesting what would happen to the family and whether they'll be able to get back their powers. It's also worth noting that we last saw Allison (played by Emmy Raver-Lampman) with a bloody wrap around her arm. It's possible that she has retained her powers. The question though, is which side she'll be on in the battle between the two families.
In a post-credits scene, we also see Justin H Min (as Ben Hargreeves/The Horror/Number Six and Ben Hargreeves/Sparrow Number Two)'s character tracking down his birth parents. If anything, we should see some answers to that in the fourth season.

- Justin H Min (as Ben Hargreeves/The Horror/Number Six and Ben Hargreeves/Sparrow Number Two)
With the events in The Umbrella Academy Season 3, we don't know for sure whether these characters will be back in the next season:
- Javon Walton (as Stanley)
- Genesis Rodriguez (as Sloane)
Where to Watch The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Trailer?
Since Netflix has not yet renewed The Umbrella Academy Season 4, they have not yet filmed any material to use as a trailer. We are still waiting for Netflix to formally announce that Season 4 has been renewed.
