Disney+ is not in the habit of releasing the ratings of its previous movies or original shows. But if there's one indication that a show has done well, it would be the release of a succeeding season.

And true enough, this is what The Mysterious Benedict Society has achieved since it launched last year. Just three months after the show premiered, Disney announced that the show has been renewed for a second season. And we've got good news-- we now have the official release date for the show.

Here's what we know about The Mysterious Benedict Society Season 2 right now:

Back in September 2021, Disney confirmed that The Mysterious Benedict Society has been renewed for a second season. The show then went into production status in early 2022. Cast members have taken to social media to share photos from the set.

And in May 2022, Seth Carr (who stars as George 'Sticky' Washington in the show) posted on his Instagram account: "Well that's a wrap for SEASON 2 of 'THE MYSTERIOUS BENEDICT SOCIETY' so much fun this season."

The actor also promised that the second season will have lots of surprises.

As of September 1, 2022, we now know when The Mysterious Benedict Society Season 2 release date will be. The date was exclusively revealed by Deadline as Wednesday, October 26, 2022. When the show airs, it will premiere with a couple of episodes. A new episode will then be released every Wednesday.

The full number of episodes in The Mysterious Benedict Society Season 2 has not yet been revealed by Disney. But if it will have the same number of episodes as the first season, it's possible that the final episode of the second season will air on December 7th.

The Mysterious Benedict Society is based on a book series written by Trenton Lee Stewart. It follows the lives of four gifted orphans who get recruited by Mr. Benedict (played by Tony Hale).

In the first season, the four protagonists ended up in loving homes. And avid fans all thought that that would be the end of the series.

Apparently, Curtain (also played by Tony Hale) has other plans. When The Mysterious Benedict Society Season 1 ended, Curtain sailed away with S.Q. (played by Ricardo Ortiz) and Dr. Garrison (played by Trenna Keating). And that's where season 2 comes into the picture.

A year after their first mission, the orphans reunite again to "embark on a perilous journey, relying on wits, intellect, and empathy to try to stop Curtain as he shifts to a new strategy with global implications."

The story behind The Mysterious Benedict Society Season 2 seems to be based on the second book in the series entitled The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey.

The synopsis for season 2 reads:

“In the second season, when the kids discover that Mr. Benedict and Number Two have been kidnapped, they must piece together the riddles and clues within a perilous scavenger hunt set by Mr. Benedict to foil Curtain’s latest scheme. Relying on only their wits, intellect, and empathy, the charming group of misfits embark on a globe-trotting adventure by air, land, sea and pie truck, calling upon their special skills to solve the mysteries and rescue their lost comrades. Along the way, the kids experience the growing pains that come along with being part of their new “found family”, while remaining true to their unique selves. In the process, they discover what true happiness really means.”

The show was created and written by Matt Manfredi together with Phil Hay. It lists Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavin serve as its showrunners.
