It's been nearly three years since we last saw Philo (played by Orlando Bloom), Vignette (played by Cara Delevingne), and the other characters of Carnival Row. And like many avid fans of the show, we can't help but wonder when Carnival Row Season 2 will be released on Amazon Prime Video. But we do know that the second season of the show will not be coming out in July 2022.

The last time we saw Philo was when he made it clear that he is part fae. He also publicly announced that he belongs with Vignette. But we can't help but wonder the fate of the other magical creatures that are still in Carnival Row. Unfortunately, we won't know this until Season 2 gets released.

So when is Carnival Row Season 2 coming out? Did Amazon Prime Video already reveal the release date for this fantasy series?

Unfortunately, there is no update on when the second season will be released. But the good news is that filming for the second season already wrapped up last fall.

We're only waiting for the post-production stage to finish before Amazon Prime Video makes an announcement related to this show. And since the show is heavy on visual effects, it could take several months to complete.

It's possible that Carnival Row Season 2 has wrapped up filming with this revelation by Cara Delevingne. The model/actress told Entertainment Weekly that she had finished filming for the show:

"I had just wrapped on Carnival Row and I was thinking I kind of wanted to take a bit of a break and focus on other stuff. And then I got a call from my agent and she literally said, "Only Murders," and I was like, "Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. A hundred percent." No hesitation. No questions asked. I literally didn't even know about the character. I just was so ready. Honestly, I couldn't have picked a better opportunity. I really still can't even believe it happened."

To note, Carnival Row Season 1 took nearly 17 months before it was released on the streaming service. If this timeline is followed, it's possible that the series will premiere by the fourth quarter of the year.

While there isn't an official release date announcement yet, it's been reported by Deadline that the show will be released in 2022. When that happens, we can expect Amazon to release a trailer and promote the new series soon.

As of November 2022, Carnival Row Season 2 is said to be released on February 17, 2023 with 10 episodes.

Another thing that avid fans of the show are eager to find out is whether Amazon will release the whole season in one go or stick to a weekly schedule.

It's important to note that Amazon Prime Video follows the typical release model like it does with its other series, The Boys and Invincible. This is because this model keeps the momentum for the show. The streaming service does not follow Netflix's binge approach. Knowing this, it's highly possible that Carnival Row Season 2 will be released with a weekly schedule too. But Amazon also had other binge-watch releases, like The Wilds and Upload. So this is really something we cannot guess until an announcement has been made.

Carnival Row Season 2 will likely have the same number of episodes as the first season did. If this is the case, the second season will also have eight episodes in total.

Amazon has not yet revealed the title of each episode in Season 2. These episodes also have a different showrunner compared to Season 1.

Back in 2019, Deadline revealed that Marc Guggenheim and Travis Beacham have exited the series. Another Season 1 showrunner, Erik Oleson, has stepped up and taken over the role for the upcoming series.

The official synopsis for Carnival Row Season 2 has not yet been revealed by Amazon Prime Video. But based on how Season 1 ended, it's possible that the second season will dive into the topic of segregation.

The finale episode of Carnival Row Season 1 saw the government order where magical creatures were divided from ordinary people. This led Philo to publicly declare that he was part fae so he could be with Vignette.

Agreus (David Gyasi) and Imogen (Tamzin Merchant) was also spotted sailing away in search of a safer place. The authorities ordered them to return but they refused. Merchant told Entertainment Weekly: "Imogen and Agreus get on the ship at the end of season 1, and everything is grand for the first five minutes of season 2. And then things go very badly wrong for them." So this could be a potential storyline we will see in the second season.
