The IT prequel series, Welcome to Derry, is currently in production and has been the talk of the town among horror movie enthusiasts.

Recently, the director of the IT films, Andy Muschietti, took to Instagram to share a set photo from the upcoming series, revealing a new character that has connections to Stephen King's universe.

The photo has sparked a lot of speculation among fans, especially since the series is set in the 1960s, 27 years prior to the first IT movie.

New Character with a Familiar Last Name

The set photo from Welcome to Derry teases the arrival of Clint Bowers, a police officer who shares the same last name as the infamous bully, Henry Bowers, from the IT novel and films. Clint also bears a resemblance to Henry's father, Butch Bowers, who was a police officer in Muschietti's film duology.

The appearance of Clint suggests that the Bowers family will play a significant role in the prequel series.

The first cast members of Welcome to Derry include Chris Chalk, Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, and James Remar, all of whom are expected to deliver top-notch performances. While it is unclear who these actors will be playing in the series, it is possible that one of them could be playing the new member of the Bowers family created for the prequel.

Since Welcome to Derry is set 27 years before the first IT movie, Clint is likely to be Butch's father, making him Henry's grandfather. However, it is unclear if this will be a familial connection or not, as 27 years is enough time for Butch to have Henry, depending on his age at the time of the prequel.

Clint's presence also means that a young Butch could appear in the series as well.

Deeper Connections with Pennywise

Although Bill Skarsgård, who portrayed Pennywise in the IT films, has not been confirmed to be involved in Welcome to Derry yet, the Bowers family will still have to deal with the ancient evil in the series.

Clint's importance in the set photo suggests that Welcome to Derry will explore a deeper connection between the Bowers family and Pennywise than the movies did. With Clint's inclusion, the prequel series could offer more historical context to the IT films.

The set photo from Welcome to Derry has created a lot of buzz among horror movie fans, especially with the potential links to Stephen King's universe.

The prequel series is set to delve deeper into the history of the Bowers family and their connections with Pennywise, promising to be a thrilling addition to the IT franchise.
