Henry Cavill's jaw-dropping return to the DC Universe created a huge jolt of excitement the franchise has been lacking for the longest time. With the confirmation that Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Studios want to bring the Man of Steel back at the forefront of the rebranded DCU, fans are now awaiting what James Gunn and Peter Safran have in store for the beloved superhero.

Of course, the entire SnyderVerse debate still exists in the "new" DCU, and many fans are wondering if it will be the continuity the DC Studios co-heads will be going with moving forward. Well, don't get your hopes up just yet because it doesn't look to be the case.

According to a new scoop from Giant Freakin Robot, Warner Bros. Discovery is making drastic changes to Henry Cavill's Superman origin, ignoring what took place in the SnyderVerse. The outlet's source claims that his next Superman project won't be a direct sequel to Man of Steel and will instead be treated as a reboot.

Of course, nothing has been officially set in stone so it's still best to take this one with a grain of salt or in this case, kryptonite. However, it does line up with the creative direction Cavill wants for the character. The actor previously expressed his desire to present a more "inspiring" take on Superman which would be a far cry from Snyder's dark and gritty version.

And with The Flash reportedly hitting the reset button on the DCU, it would make sense for the franchise to start fresh. I guess we'll just have to see how everything plays out.

As it stands, key details about DC Studios' Man of Steel sequel are still being kept under wraps.
