Watch Wacky New Trailer for Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time

Crash Bandicoot was one of the biggest gaming franchises of the 90s, but the title has undergone a few missteps, only recently receiving a win with the release of the N. Sane Trilogy as well as the revamped Crash Team Racing. Just in, Activision has released a new trailer for the official follow-up to Warped, Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time.

We don't have an official breakdown of the story, but the trailer does come with the logline: It's About Time⏰ for a brand-wumping new #CrashBandicoot game!? Crash fourward into a time-shattering adventure in Crash Bandicoot™ 4: It's About Time.

While the remastered trilogy was a remake of PS1 era games, it looks like this fourth follow-up will be making good use of the power of modern consoles and will have Crash going through more elaborate twists and turns while sticking true to the core gameplay. You'll also notice that they've done a touch-up with the character design, making Crash and Coco more "relatable" to kids.

What's interesting is we're also getting an expansion of the lore, with Crash getting access to more of the magical masks, and getting new power-ups as well. I'm curious what happened to Aku-Aku though because I don't see him in the trailer at all. Either way, the game is outright ignoring the other Crash games that came before, and is sticking to the idea that this is a direct follow-up to the third game.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is set to come out on the PS4 and Xbox One on Oct. 9, 2020.
