Warner Bros. Discovery Reportedly Making Major Change to Batgirl Release

The DC Extended Universe has seemingly been in limbo for years now and despite the efforts to establish it as an equal to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, poor and questionable creative decisions from the powers that be have hindered it from becoming a good alternative to the Marvel film franchise.

However, the game-changing merger between Warner Bros. and Discovery promises a massive changing of the guard for the franchise, and by the looks of things, it promises a new and improved DCEU.

We recently reported that Warner Bros. Discovery boss David Zaslav is adamant about redeeming the DCEU after years of inconsistency and its lack of cohesiveness with Superman being on top of his priorities. Now, a new report from Puck claims that WB Discovery is considering a theatrical release for the upcoming Batgirl film starring Leslie Grace.

The DCEU flick was originally set for an HBO Max-only release but according to the report, due to Netflix experiencing a massive loss in stocks after the streaming giant lost some of its subscribers, Warner Bros. Discovery had to make some major changes to its release strategy.

As it stands, nothing has been officially confirmed yet but if Batgirl does end up being released on the big screen, then it's a huge win for DC fans. It's also the right move in my book because not everyone has access to HBO Max but on the other hand, it'll be interesting to see if it affects the streaming service's performance. I guess we'll just have to wait and see but one thing's for sure, this whole Warner Bros. and Discovery merger is already making some brilliant decisions.

Batgirl is currently scheduled for release exclusively on HBO Max later this year.
