WandaVision Series May Be Preparing Marvel For The House Of M

Marvel's been preparing quite a number of different mini-series for Disney's upcoming streaming site, Disney+, and the studio is planning to give the spotlight to characters that never really got their own standalone movie before like Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), and Bucky (Sebastian Stan).

However, while most fans are looking forward to Falcon and the Winter Soldier hoping that they get to see Sam Wilson's Captain America in action, many seem to be forgetting the potential relevance of Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision's (Paul Bettany) WandaVision series.

According to ComicBook.com, the teaser for WandaVision was recently screened during Marvel's Hall H panel at SDCC, and the footage seemed to indicate a 1950's setting for the show. The video confused fans. How did Wanda and Vision make it to the 1950s? How is Vision back from the dead? Didn't he die at the hands of Thanos (Josh Brolin) in Avengers: Infinity War?

The potential answer lies in one of Marvel's biggest comic book stories – The House of M.

For those who aren't familiar with the comic book event, The House of M sees Wanda accidentally altering reality after the grief over her dead children causes her power to spiral out of control. In this alternate world that Scarlet Witch creates the Avengers and the X-Men heroes get to live out the life that he or she had always secretly desired.

Seeing how Marvel's been keeping WandaVision on a low profile, one can't help but wonder whether the studio is planning to feature a storyline similar to House of M. After all, Olsen did tease that the series would reveal the reason why Wanda is being called Scarlet Witch, hinting at the origin and nature of her powers.

Do you think we're going to see the House of M storyline? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.

WandaVision is set to release on Disney+ in the spring of 2021.
