VALORANT Champions: Vivo Keyd Used Illegal Cypher Camera in Match vs. Acend

During today's VALORANT Champions match, Vivo Keyd's Jonathan "JhoW" Glória used an illegal Cypher camera, according to previous Riot Games rulings on the location of the camera and players' use of it when placed in that spot.

In the 13th round of Map 3 (Breeze), JhoW placed a Cypher camera outside of A site's main entrance. This camera location was considered illegal during a match between Galaxy Racer and X10 during the Southeast Asia Challenger Playoff on August 13 since it's impossible to destroy the camera in this area.

The use of this Cypher ability helped X10 win the series, but after evaluation from Riot Games officials, the camera was deemed illegal, and X10 were forced to forfeit the series, and this loss preventing them from qualifying VALORANT Masters 3: Berlin.

“It has been determined that X10 Esports utilized a known banned one-way Cypher cam on A site Breeze,” Riot Games explained in a statement about X10’s forfeit. “This is considered an exploit as enemies are not able to destroy the camera while being in its sight as the camera can see through a piece of overhanging texture outside the cave/tunnel.”

The illegal camera was used when Vivo Keyd were leading against Acend 9-4 at VALORANT Champions. Vivo Keyd would eventually go on to win the third map 13-8, and win 2-1 the entire series over Acend.

Riot Games has yet to issue a statement on the use of the Cypher camera.

Professional Ameican VALORANT player Hunter 'BabyJ' Schline called the use of the Cypher camera "shameless", saying that "every cypher player knows not to use this".
