Ed Sheeran has had an awful experience with South Park, stemming from the episode Ginger Kids.

Broadcast 17 years ago during the cult animation's ninth season, this chapter showed Eric Cartman waking up to discover his hair color had gone ginger and his skin had turned much lighter.

As a result of the discrimination, he rallied all of the other red-haired kids in the hopes of forming a master race.

‘That was just it worldwide for the rest of my life’

In a recent interview, the award-winning singer-songwriter claimed that before South Park's storyline episode had aired, some Americans were unaware of the ridicule commonly associated with redheads.

“Having red hair in England was always a thing that people took the piss out of you for, but it was never something in America,” the musician recently told Slam Radio.

“People never knew what a ginger was in America. That episode of South Park f–king ruined my life."

“I was going to America and everyone was like, ‘I love your hair dude.’ And I was like, ‘Oh my God, people like my hair?’” Sheeran continued. “And then I remember that episode coming out and that was just it worldwide for the rest of my life.”

The good news is that the performer isn't all that mad with South Park right now. In fact, he stated that he'd like to work with creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone in the future, even if they're going to take a direct aim at him in a forthcoming episode.

Will Ed Sheeran Appear in the New South Park?

Sheeran's request isn't out of the usual, as a slew of celebrities has been on the long-running show throughout the years. Of course, far more haven't, which is most likely due to the subject matter and the joke made at their expense.

Sheeran, however, appears to be willing to do anything, which should boost his chances of starring in a future episode. Regardless of whether it happens, one can only hope that audiences will react positively to it, as they did to his Game of Thrones cameo.

The next season of South Park is still in development, but with a Paramount+ subscription, fans can see the latest installment of the show's pandemic special. Fans will love the current installment while they wait for a new season because it has some unique twists that they won't anticipate coming.
