Top Gun: Maverick is also set to beat Matt Reeves's The Batman. According to a report by Variety, the sequel grossed $52.7 million from 64 international markets during its third weekend, earning its overseas total $353.7 Million.
Matt Reeves' latest reboot of the DC caped crusader with The Batman earned a total of $770 Million at the global box office, while Tom Cruise's Top Gun: Maverick earned a total of $747 on its third weekend. If not impressive enough, the Top Gun sequel also landed as the top ten biggest third-weekend grosses of all time.

Tom Cruise is also set to beat his own record and will overtake Mission: Impossible: Fallout’s $792 million global box office receipt, which is considered the highest-grossing film of Cruise's lifelong career.

More impressively, Top Gun: Maverick is also predicted to dethrone MCU milestone Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness domestically. The Doctor Strange sequel is forecasted to hit $400 Million on its fourth weekend. Once Maverick crosses 400 Million, it will now be Paramount’s second-biggest domestic hit of all time, beating Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Considering how 1986's Top Gun only grossed $357.3 Million worldwide, after more than three decades, Top Gun: Maverick has surprisingly returned to the box office and triumphantly claimed its title as a blockbuster film. Alongside Tom Cruise, the film also stars Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Monica Barbaro, Manny Jacinto, and with a surprising return of Val Kilmer.

See Top Gun: Maverick's official synopsis below:

Test pilot Captain Pete "Maverick" Mitchell (Cruise) has purposely dodged an advancement in rank after thirty years of service. One day Maverick is called to be put in charge of training a group of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission under the orders of his fellow naval aviator friend and former rival, Tom "Iceman" Kazansky (Kilmer), who is the commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Among them is Lieutenant Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw (Teller), the son of Maverick's late best friend Nick "Goose" Bradshaw (Edwards).

Top Gun: Maverick is still showing in theaters worldwide.
