The wait for Uncharted just got a little longer. The highly anticipated adaptation of the Naughty Dog video games starring Tom Holland has just been pushed to a 2022 premiere after No Time To Die got a later release date.
Variety confirmed that the 25th James Bond film has been pushed back yet again. Although the Daniel Craig movie was already scheduled for an April 2 premiere, MGM and EON have decided to delay it and set the release date for October 8, 2021.
Interestingly, the announcement was immediately followed by another studio making some drastic changes to its 2021 line-up. Sony Pictures later confirmed that it is also switching up the release date for five upcoming films including Uncharted.
The adaptation of the video game has already been delayed several times. Originally set to premiere in December last year, the movie was pushed back to March 5, 2021. This was later delayed to October before being pushed up to July. Sadly, the new release date is set for February next year.
In addition to Uncharted, Sony Pictures also delayed the release dates for Ghostbusters: Afterlife (November 11, 2021), Cinderella (July 16, 2021), and Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway (June 11, 2021). Jared Leto's Morbius has also been pushed back to premiere on January 21, 2022.
Uncharted is directed by Ruben Fleischer and also stars Mark Wahlberg as Victor "Sully" Sullivan, Sophia Taylor Ali as Chloe Frazer, and Antonio Banderas in an undisclosed role. The film is now scheduled for release on February 11, 2022.
