However, sources claimed that the romantic reboot was truly a “mission impossible” due to the pressure of being in the media spotlight. An unnamed insider told the magazine:
“What was working behind closed doors didn’t work out so well when it was made public, and the fanfare around them as a couple exploded again. Unfortunately, it hasn’t worked out. They have now decided they are better as friends.”
Globe reported the second breakup happened just weeks after Hayley Atwell walked the red carpet with Tom Cruise at May’s London premiere of his movie blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick. The 40-year-old star is the first high-profile romance Tom had in the decade since his shocking divorce from Katie Holmes in 2012, after six years of marriage.
Tom Cruise was previously married to Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman for three years and 11 years, respectively. An unidentified tipster insisted Tom’s two stabs at love with Hayley Atwell were “genuine.”

For starters, Top Gun: Maverick serves as the first film for Tom Cruise to reach the billion-dollar milestone. It is also the second-highest-grossing movie in Paramount’s long history in terms of domestic figures after Titanic.
Paramount Pictures President Brian Robbins, in a statement, said:
"It's rare to get the special kind of alchemy that creates a true event film, and we have been absolutely blown away by the global response.”

"For any film to join the $1 billion club is a monumental achievement. But 'Top Gun: Maverick' hitting $1 billion during the pandemic is a bit different. It was the perfect movie at the perfect time because it starred one of Hollywood's last movie stars, in a movie that delivered on all fronts to all audiences around the world.”
Over the weekend, Tom Cruise’s Maverick nabbed the second spot at the domestic box office in its fifth weekend, notching $29.6 million. The musical biopic Elvis, starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks, took the No. 1 spot, which opened to $31.1 million in North America.
