Toei Animation Shuts Down Online Store After Being Hit by Major Hack

There is little doubt that Toei Animation is one of the biggest companies in Japan, thanks to the success of anime titles like Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, and One Piece. However, the studio still faced a major problem with its website after it was hacked and Toei has decided to temporarily shut down its online store to prevent further damage.

Toei Animation has issued a statement regarding the hack, confirming that the network was illegally accessed by a third party on Sunday, March 6, 2022. The company immediately reacted by shutting down its network along with its online shop, which is believed to be one of the hack's main targets. There is a possibility that the hack was aiming to find and eventually leak transaction information and personal information about Toei's customers and business partners.

The animation studio is currently investigating the matter alongside a specialized security company. To prevent any further damage, the website is preventing access to the online shop and any outside access to its internal systems. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

The hack is a huge concern for Toei Animation considering the number of customers who have been using their website and online shop for several years now. The leakage of transaction histories as well as personal information of customers and business partners could be a huge blow to the company so it's understandable that they are doing everything they can to manage the situation. Hopefully, the issue will be resolved soon.

In the meantime, Toei Animation had previously confirmed that there will be a new Dragon Ball Super movie that will be released later this year. Details about the new project have not yet been revealed but there is little doubt that we'll be getting new updates within the next few weeks.
