With the season finale approaching, NBC audiences are curious as to what the cast will do next. The end of the series signals the end of an era, and the cast isn't ready to say goodbye to the Pearsons just yet. Chrissy Metz, who plays Kate Pearson, recently discussed the idea of a This Is Us spinoff.

Is a This Is Us spinoff in the works?
Dan Fogelman, the show's creator, stated that he didn't want the Pearson family saga to drag on too long. Thus he only planned for the story to continue as long as it did. As a result, many are hoping for a This Is Us spinoff in some form. Chrissy Metz, who plays Kate, seemed to be on board with the plan.
“Who doesn’t love a spinoff?” Metz told Entertainment Tonight. “And I think that there’s a lot of potential for all of it. So, who knows? In maybe a year or two, somebody misses somebody and somebody writes something. But yes, [there’s] a lot of potential, I feel.”

What’s next for Chrissy Metz after the Season 6 finale?
While fans would love to see the group reunite for a This Is Us spinoff, fans are more likely to see them in other projects first. What does Chrissy Metz do after the show?
Metz is a singer who plans to tour her album once it is completed. She's also not done with television just yet. She'd love to return to the small screen, albeit in a different role.
“I’d love to produce and star in something, maybe a TV show,” she told Today, though she wants the character to be “maybe a little acerbic, maybe a little more sassy and sure of herself than Kate Pearson ever was, (and) maybe (has) a little attitude.”
She also mentioned that she would like to write or star in a Broadway production.
The This Is Us Season 6 finale airs Tuesday, May 24, at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
