There is little doubt that Ciri has been through a lot in the past two seasons of The Witcher. So it's no surprise that Freya Allan claims that the Princess of Cintra will continue on an "emotional journey" in The Witcher Season 3.

Freya Allan recently spoke to Netflix Tudum to promote The Witcher Season 3 and she spoke about Ciri's growth from the first season to the present.

“It’s a really emotional journey for Ciri and her development,” Allan said.

“At the beginning of that season, she still feels like a young teenager and by the end, she does really seem like she’s grown up.”

It makes sense considering that Ciri is now in the care of Geralt of Rivia and Yennefer, who is teaching her to control her magic. It's a major struggle for the girl but she's determined to learn.

“Ciri does want to be able to learn the magic. She’s [just] beginning to get frustrated because she feels so hopeless at it,” Allan said. “She doubts herself in every way actually.”

Lucky for Ciri, Anya Chalotra assures that Yennefer is also determined to teach her adoptive daughter since it's the best way to protect her.

“The Continent isn’t safe for anyone, least of all Ciri. Without nurturing Ciri’s chaos and helping her understand something Yen has learnt the hard way, Ciri will not survive what’s coming for her,” Chalotra said.

“Yennefer puts Ciri first and in doing so, she’s able to persuade people she once hated, or charm anyone who gets in the way of protecting Ciri. Compromise is a keyword, actually. She learns how to do that this season,” she added.

The Witcher Season 3 will also bring back Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia. The upcoming season will be the last one for the Justice League star who previously announced his departure from the Netflix series. Liam Hemsworth has been confirmed to take over the role in Season 5.

The Witcher Season 3, Volume 1 premieres on Netflix on June 29, 2023.
