The first season of The Witcher introduced a handful of characters each with their own interesting backstories. And while the show is mainly focused on Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri, the viewers are really intrigued by the secondary characters too and it looks like there's about to be a whole lot more to be introduced in the second season.

The Witcher showrunner Laren Hissrich recently did an AMA on Reddit where she was asked by a fan on her take of the show as more of a serialized one, rather than being episodic, where the story follows different characters in each one. In the process of answering this question, Hissrich teased about new characters that'll be featured in the upcoming second season too.

"Yes, you can always introduce more characters as you go along in a show," she wrote. "We'll be doing that as well -- there's a whole new set of fun characters coming in S2." That being said, Hissrich made it clear that it's important for her that the viewers would know from the very beginning that this story is about Geralt. "But it's also about Yennefer and about Ciri and -- most importantly -- about what happens when they find each other and become a family," she added.

As new characters get introduced in the second season, HIssrich makes it a point that she didn't want to completely shift the story in the following seasons, hence immediately introducing Yennefer and Ciri in the first season.
