The finale of The Witcher's first season showed Freya Allen's Ciri finally crossing paths with Henry Cavill's Geralt. Together with him and Anya Chalotra's Yennefer, Season 2 will see an epic journey of the princess, with showrunner Lauren Hissrich teasing a big transformation for Ciri.

In a recent interview with TVGuide, Hissrich tells what's ahead for the trio, as well as how the show will approach Ciri's transformation. "We're really trying to savor it," she says. "I think one of the things that, of course, happens when you are adapting material is that you have these eight episodes, they're an hour long each, [and] we had much more of Ciri's story in Season 1 that we ended up having to trim down."

Hissrich says Ciri is "not as present" as she would have liked her to be in the first season, so Season 2 will "really" dig in with the character to try and understand her more. "And yes, that growth that you're describing, where she starts training," she added. "Where she actually becomes the character that we know from the books, and later from the video games, we will see her become that person."

Of course, Ciri doesn't just "change on a dime," with Hissrich pointing out that the character's roots shouldn't be forgotten while her gradual transformation is being shown.

Now that Ciri and Geralt finally found each other, the latter's story has only just begun as she eventually discovers her powers and what exactly she is capable of.

The Witcher Season 2 is expected to arrive sometime in 2021.
