There's no denying that Henry Cavill has been one of the most-talked-about actors of 2022 and the current developments in his career have been nothing short of intriguing. After making his triumphant comeback as Superman in Black Adam, the British actor would later break the news that he'll no longer be playing Geralt of Rivia in the fourth season of Netflix's hit fantasy series The Witcher.
Cavill's true reason for exiting the series remains unclear but fans didn't receive it positively. In fact, most of them plan on boycotting the show altogether if Netflix doesn't bring him back for future seasons. Now, one of the show's creatives is breaking their silence on the whole ordeal.
In an interview with TechRadar at The Witcher: Blood Origin's UK junket, showrunner Lauren Hissrich says she fully understands the fans' sentiments regarding Cavill's jaw-dropping but pleads with them to continue their support as Liam Hemsworth takes over the Geralt role.
She said: "It's a big deal for us, too. And that's the thing – there's a lot of talk and rumors about and we fully understand why fans are going there. What I will say is please come back for The Witcher season three so that we can continue to do this. Obviously, that [Cavill's departure] is huge news. But what I don't want to do is – this has to stay about Blood Origin, Declan [de Barra, Blood Origin's showrunner], the cast, and the crew. This is their time in the spotlight."

Cavill's departure from The Witcher is an incredible loss for the franchise and Netflix's decision to push through with its fourth season seems like a questionable creative decision, especially considering Henry has already set the tone for it. Liam is put in an unenviable position but I hope things will work out for him.
The Witcher Season 3 is expected to drop sometime in 2023.
