Disney's live-action takes on animated classics have been notorious for not being 100% faithful to the source material so it isn't exactly all that surprising that the upcoming adaptation of The Little Mermaid starring newbie actress Halle Bailey will be no different.

So far, we know very little about the film and its full cast which currently includes Bailey, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and Melissa McCarthy as the iconic villain Ursula but according to a new scoop from the folks over at Deadline, British actress Noma Dumezweni, who turned a lot of heads thanks to her brilliant performance in HBO's The Undoing is joining the live-action reimagining of the Disney animated classic.

To continue Disney's tradition of tweaking its live-action fairytale films, Dumezweni has reportedly been cast in a brand new role that wasn't part of the 1989 original. It'd be interesting to see what kind of character she ends up playing but considering her performances in her previous projects, I'm 100% positive that Disney won't waste her talent for a D-list role.

Noma is already no stranger to the magical world of Disney. In fact, she was also involved in the 2018 hit Mary Poppins Returns, a sequel which starred Emily Blunt.

Disney's live-action The Little Mermaid is currently slated for release this November.
