After the success of its reality dating series, Love is Blind, Netflix created another reality show called The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On. The show was created in 2022 after Love is Blind Season 2.
Unlike other dating shows where they try to look for someone, The Ultimatum actually has a different format.
Contestants enter the show with their long-time beau in the hope of getting an answer: will they get married or move on?
After the first season of the show, Netflix has released a second season with a different clientele in mind. This time around, they brought together queer couples for The Ultimatum: Queer Love.
Initially, this was intended to be the second season of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On. But while in post-production, Netflix decided that it would be an entirely new show.
The Ultimatum: Queer Love follows a group of women and non-binary individuals over the course of eight weeks as they spend time together at a luxurious resort.
While there, they also get the chance to know the other contestants on the show and ultimately make the decision if they would like to get married or not.
It sounds a little harsh, but it's probably a way for some couples to decide whether they would like to take the next step in their relationship or not.
Where Did They Film The Ultimatum: Queer Love?
Compared to Love is Blind, The Ultimatum: Queer Love was shot in location in San Diego, California. Meanwhile, Love is Blind was filmed in a studio built specifically for the pods.
But where exactly in San Diego did the couples from The Ultimatum: Queer Love go? According to Bustle, the show was filmed in San Diego in September to November 2021.

The Yasai
The Yasai is a plant-based Japanese restaurant that many locals love to frequent. It is filled with Instagramable interiors, which make it a great choice for the contestants.
The pivotal scene wherein the contestants of the show decide to try out a trial marriage in episode two was shot in the dining rooms of The Yasai.
Gaslamp Quarter
In the episode where the group went on a night out, they filmed at San Diego's central area. This area is known for its selection of restaurants and nightlife.
The episode shows a shot of the Gaslamp Quarter. But there's no confirmation if the group actually went in the establishment.
Chula Vista, California
On their date, Xander and Yoly headed to Shake and Muddle in Chula Vista, California. The establishment is described as a "fusion cocktail mixology bar and kitchen."
San Diego, California
Aside from these places, the filmmakers added in various shots of San Diego's skyline in every episode. There's also the addition of some of the popular beaches of the city, which include the following:
- Coronado Beach
- Jolla Cove Beach
- Pacific Beach
- The Ocean Beach pier
The show also filmed at the Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa, which costs around $350-400 a night.
Will There Be More Seasons of The Ultimatum: Queer Love?
Right now, there's no confirmation on whether there'll be a second season for either show. But according to reports, the cast members of Queer Love got together in January 2023 to film a reunion special.
