The Sandman Set Photo Reveals First Look at Death

There is little doubt that Death is one of the most important characters in Neil Gaiman's The Sandman. After all, Morpheus' sister has a cult following who has great expectations of the way the character will be portrayed in the series. Luckily, a new set photo reveals our first look at the show's Death.

The image was shared on Twitter along with a picture of Tom Sturridge filming as Dream. Check it out below.

We're loving how Kirby Howell-Baptiste looks amazing in Death's trademark outfit and ankh necklace. Needless to say, the casting for The Sandman appears to be perfect and we can't wait to see the entire cast soon.

Although fans were generally pleased with Howell-Baptiste's casting, some have pointed out that Death should be portrayed by a white woman. However, Gaiman has since defended the show's decision.

Howell-Baptiste's casting may have been questionable for some but people didn't have any questions when Sturridge was cast as Morpheus. Fans were enthusiastic about the actor playing Dream because of his resemblance to the character and Gaiman.

The Sandman is being developed by Allan Heinberg, who will also serve as executive producer alongside Gaiman and David S. Goyer. The series will also star Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, Boyd Holbrook as the Corinthian, Charles Dance as Roderick Burgess, Asim Chaudhry as Abel, and Sanjeev Bhaskar as Cain.

For now, The Sandman has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
