In an interview with TVLine, the show’s lead star remains positive about The Rookie: Feds Season 2, though she, too, is waiting for the important update.

“I haven’t heard anything; I’m the same as you,” she said. “I’m a lady in waiting.”

The 53-year-old admitted she had no idea about the series’ fate, though she believed it was “on the bubble.”

“I don’t know the fate of that show, but I do know that in the same article I read that said that it was on the bubble, it also said that I was one of the most sought-after actresses at this time,” she continued. “So we’ll see. But I love my job at Rookie: Feds. I love the people that I work with, so being able to do another season of it would be like heaven to me.”

The Rookie: Feds ended with no cliffhangers.

Though Nash couldn’t say anything about not giving the show an extra nudge to keep fans wanting for more, she still wants it to continue.

“There are so many other things about Simone Clark that I would love to explore,” she said about her character.

“I would really like to dive into her relationship with her children. Her love life is always interesting. And I want to see her face some cases that really try her, you know?” she added. “I want to see her really tested because she comes across in most cases as unflappable. But I want to see where the cracks are. That’s where all the fun is.”

The Rookie: Feds’ Growing Popularity

According to Screen Rant, The Rookie: Feds is just gaining popularity, with 2.98 million live viewers during its finale compared to its premiere episode of 2.28 million live viewers.

This speaks volumes about the show’s possible renewal. Its availability on streaming may also help grow the series’ popularity.

However, considering the first season just ended, it may take time before a renewal takes place, especially with the ongoing writers’ strike.

ABC won’t air new scripted shows in the fall because of the strike, even including The Rookie Season 6.

So, fans may have to wait a little longer to see if The Rookie: Feds Season 2 will happen.
