Now, after a few years away, it finally returns with a second season. Fans of the series have only got a bit more time left before Naofumi, Raphtalia and Filo return to our screens! What is The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 About?
It has not been confirmed, but The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 will likely cover the Spirit Tortoise arc, which comes next in the original light novels. The Guardian Beast featured prominently in the background of the early visuals.
Based on the light novel series of the same name, The Rising of the Shield Hero takes place in Melromarc, where four people from parallel Earths are summoned to the fantasy world of Melromarc. Here, they are each given one legendary weapon and are asked to defend the land against waves of monsters.
Otaku Naofumi Iwatani is transported into the world, where he is given the title of Shield Hero. As the only defensive weapon of the four, he doesn’t receive the popular support of the others - the Sword, Spear and Bow. His luck then goes from bad to worse when he’s betrayed by princess Malty Melromarc and made an outcast.
Hitting rock bottom, he sets out to right the wrongs against him and fulfil his mission, enlisting the help of a demi-human slave called Raphtalia and a bird-like creature called Filo.

The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 will premiere on Wednesday 6th April 2022, the anime's official website has confirmed.
The series will premiere in Japan at 10 PM. Given that most Crunchyroll simulcasts arrive on the platform around one hour after this time, we can expect The Rising of the Shield Hero to be available at the following times:

- Eastern Time: 9 AM ET

The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 will be available to stream on Crunchyroll and Funimation in most regions outside of Asia.
As with the first season, The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 will premiere in Japan on AT-X.

There has been no confirmation yet regarding how many episodes season 2 of The Rising of the Shield Hero will have. However, it is widely expected that it will be a single-cour, with 12 or 13 episodes. The main reasons for this are the length of story it will be covering (the Spirit Tortoise Arc) and the fact that a third season has already been announced.
What Studio is Producing The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2?
As with season 1, The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 will be produced by Kinema Citrus.
Kinema Citrus is a well-respected anime studio that has produced acclaimed series such as Made in Abyss and Black Bullet. For the second season, they will be joined by DR Movie, a studio based in South Korea that has provided support for various anime including The Aquatope on White Sand.
Stills have recently been released for the first episode of Shield Hero Season 2. By looking at these, you can see that the new season will look almost identical to the first, which will please most fans.
There is one notable change of staff for the second season. The director will now be Masato Jinbo, who recently directed Restaurant to Another World 2. Beyond that, though, the show has the same voice actors, composition, character designer and animation directors as in season one.
MADKID, who did the opening songs for season 1, will return for season 2 with the song "Bring Back". Chiai Fujikawa will also return to do the ending theme for the second season, this time with the song "Yuzurenai".
