Steve Carell and John Krasinski will reunite onscreen for the first time since leaving The Office in Paramount's upcoming family movie If.

Despite the fact that they've both gone on to have successful careers in other fields, Carell and Krasinski are best recognized for their time at Dunder Mifflin.

Michael Scott, played by Carell, was an ineffective and frequently politically incorrect manager, while Jim Halpert, played by Krasinski, was a salesman/trickster. While Carell left the show in Season 7, Krasinski stayed for the whole 9-season run.

John Krasinski’s If

Krasinski has established himself as a director to watch in the years following The Office. His movie directorial debut was The Hollars in 2016, but it was A Quiet Place in 2018 that put Krasinski on many people's radars. If, a family film slated to be released by Paramount in November 2023, will be his next project.

According to Deadline, Carell has joined the cast of If, which is still keeping the plot and characters a secret. So far, all that is known about the plot is that it is based on Krasinski's original idea and is about a child's journey to find their imagination.

If’s Stellar Cast

The film will be written, directed, and starred by Krasinski. Along with Carell, the call sheet includes An Officer and a Gentleman and Roots star Louis Gossett Jr., Minari breakout Alan Kim, and The Walking Dead actress Cailey Fleming. They will join the already announced Ryan Reynolds, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Fiona Shaw in the cast.

If will be produced by Krasinski's company, Sunday Night, in collaboration with Allyson Seeger and Andrew Form. Reynolds' company, Maximum Effort, will also produce. George Dewey will serve as an executive producer.

While If will be Carell and Krasinski's first professional collaboration since The Office, the two reunited virtually over video chat in 2020 to commemorate the series' 15th anniversary in a segment on Krasinski's YouTube show Some Good News.

If appears to be considerably different from Krasinski's previous directorial attempts, thanks to its family-friendly premise. It'll be fascinating to see what he can do with such a talented cast.

The film is set to hit theaters on Nov. 17, 2023, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
