The NBA's Toronto Raptors Meet Actual Raptors in New Jurassic World: Dominion ESPN Promo


In recent months, not only have we seen the official Jurassic World: Dominion (2022) trailer, we also got treated to a handful of 2022 Winter Olympics TV spots which featured dinosaurs from the upcoming blockbuster. But now, raptors have invaded ESPN in a brand-new promo for the movie!

It looks like the guys at ESPN will need to hold onto their butts, because Toronto Raptors' Power Forward player Scottie Barnes is warning everyone at the ESPN office about actual raptors in the building!

ESPN analyst Richard Jefferson is a little dubious at first, until movie-quality raptors appear (the CGI has been spared no expense). NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar also appears, as does Jurassic Park veteran Jeff Goldblum.

"Yeah, uh, nobody believed me, either," the actor says, before we cut to a shot of a T-Rex bursting through the screen.

This isn't the Toronto Raptors' first run-in with dinosaurs from Jurassic Park, though - the name of the team is actually inspired by the franchise, which was unveiled in 1994, the year after the release of the original film.

Even outdoor public viewings of the games at Maple Leaf Square in Toronto are affectionately nicknamed "Jurassic Park".

The Jurassic World: Dominion promo debuted during ESPN's coverage of NBA over the weekend, and it's likely we'll be seeing more promos, TV spots, and trailers in the coming weeks.

Jurassic World: Dominion is the sixth installment in the Jurassic Park franchise, which started back in 1993 with Steven Spielberg's ground-breaking classic. Now, director Colin Trevorrow tells us that the upcoming sequel will be a culmination of all six movies so far, and will mark an end to the "Jurassic era".

Following on from the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), Dominion picks up four years later to find dinosaurs thriving in various parts of the world - largely North America. While very little is known about the actual plot, we do know that the movie will have a globe-hopping nature to it.

Returning Jurassic World characters are Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), Henry Wu (BD Wong), Franklin Webb (Justice Smith), Zia Rodriguez (Daniella Pineda), and Maisie Lockwood (Isabella Sermon), as well as original and fan-favorite Jurassic Park characters Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), and Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern).

Newcomers include DeWanda Wise (Kayla Watts) and Campbell Scott (Lewis Dodgson).

Jurassic World: Dominion arrives in theaters on June 10.
