The Mandalorian Season 2 Teased Another Star Wars Character's Return to Hide Luke Skywalker Cameo

It's hard to keep a secret these days, especially when you're filming a high-profile Star Wars project. However, the folks working on The Mandalorian Season 2 found an ingenious way to hide Luke Skywalker's cameo. This involved teasing the return of another beloved Star Wars character.

The final episode of The Mandalorian Season 2 revealed that a Jedi had heard Baby Yoda's Force call and it was ultimately confirmed to be Luke. Mark Hamill had filmed the scene, which never leaked since the cast and crew kept the secret.

Amazingly, director Peyton Reed decided to take things one step further to make sure nobody caught on to the cameo. Reed actually commissioned an artist to work on some concept art that featured Plo Koon instead of Luke.

We're not gonna lie, it would have been awesome to see the member of the Jedi council returning to take on Moff Gideon's dark troopers and ultimately save Baby Yoda. On the other hand, it made better sense for Luke to show up in the series. Still, we're grateful that Reed had the concept art made.

But will Luke actually return in The Mandalorian Season 3? It's still unclear if the Jedi and Baby Yoda will still play a major role in the series considering that the show follows Mando. On the other hand, fans are hoping that Grogu's Jedi training will be featured in the second season.

The Mandalorian Season 3 is expected to begin production soon. The series is then set to return on Disney+ in 2022.
