The Last of Us Part II has been Delayed

It's been almost a month ago that Sony Playstation announced that The Last of Us Part II was coming out February of next year. Bad news though, because the game has been delayed by 3 months.

According to director Neil Druckmann on the Playstation Blog, the new release date for The Last of Us Part II is now May 29, 2020. As it turns out, the game needed a bit more polishing to get it to the standards of Naughty Dog.

Druckmann writes:

However, it was during the last few weeks, as we were closing out sections of the game, that we realized we simply didn't have enough time to bring the entire game up to a level of polish we would call Naughty Dog quality. At this point we were faced with two options: compromise parts of the game or get more time. We went with the latter, and this new release date allows us to finish everything to our level of satisfaction while also reducing stress on the team.

Hopefully, fans don't take it too hard, seeing that this is one of the most anticipated games of next year, and it would make sense that Naughty Dog doesn't want to disappoint. If you ask me, I'd prefer to have something delayed then to have it arrive on time and full of bugs.

If it's any consolation, PSN is currently offering The Last of Us Remastered for free, and it should keep players satisfied till the eventual release of the sequel. This probably gives a lot of time for fans new to the franchise to catch up.

Catch The Last of Us Part II when it comes out May 28, 2020.
