The Last of Us Part II Director Shares Horrible Hate Mail He’s Received from Angry Fans

It's no question that a lot of controversies has surrounded the release of The Last of Us Part II, and actress Laura Bailey has shared actual death threats that have been sent to her by angry TLOU fans. If you thought Bailey's messages were bad though, director Neil Druckmann has been receiving a lot worse.

Druckmann has shared these transphobic, anti-Semitic, and homophobic messages that he's received from people who hated the game. Check these out:

If anything, it looks like Druckmann isn't dwelling too much on these messages as there are also a lot of positive things being said about the game—like burrito appreciation threads:

By the looks of it, The Last of Us Part II has become the Last Jedi of 2020—something that was an earnest, creative endeavor that a bunch of toxic fans have harshly bashed because they ‘ruined' characters. If you ask me, Naughty Dog was selling a whole experience, and The Last of Us Part II had delivered in waves. Instead of a by-the-numbers sequel, we got a completely different game that somehow still stayed true to the franchise, and let players undergo some truly masterful emotional manipulation.

If you haven't picked up the game yet, I suggest you do and experience it for yourself. This is one of those games which really only makes sense if you actually play it and it won't have the same resonance if you just watch a playthrough online.

The Last of Us Part II is now available for the PS4.
