The Last of Us Part II Creative Director Expects Game to be ‘Divisive’

A lot of people are excited for the release of The Last of Us Part II, and besides gameplay, there's a lot of hype surrounding the continuation of the story of Joel and Ellie. With all the negative comments coming out after the leak of the game's story, creative director Neil Druckman talks about the divisive reception he expects the game to get.

In an inside look at The Last of Us Part II, Druckman admits:

"I'm thinking this one might be more divisive than the first game in a very kind of exciting way that I think it raises those interesting, philosophical questions, and asks the players to interpret some of the material that's there, and see where they stand on those questions."

We don't really know what elements we can expect to be divisive, but so far the comments that I've noticed online have been bashing the story for pushing a ‘feminist agenda'. I don't know about you, but the moment those comments start popping out, I immediately start ignoring them because they come from a place of extreme bias.

If anything, we should all just wait and see for ourselves when the game comes out next month. If you want to spoil yourself with leaks, you're free to do so, but I think your reception to the story is also dependent on you experiencing the game. After all, the nice thing about The Last of Us is how is perfectly melds storytelling and gameplay.

The Last of Us Part II comes out June 19.
