The Last of Us Part 2 Reportedly Pushed Back to 2020 Release, Possibly Due to Death Stranding

The Last of Us Part 2 was rumored to be coming out this year and that news got people hyped. After all, the first game is considered by many to be Naughty Dog's masterpiece and any kind of follow-up will have PlayStation owners pumped up. It also features one of the few openly gay characters in games, Ellie, who is the main playable character and doesn't just play a support role.

Fans were really hoping that the game would come out this year. Then Death Stranding went on and announced its release date; November 8.

According to Jason Schreier from Kotaku, The Last of Us Part 2 will probably be moved to an early 2020 release so that it doesn't compete with Kojima's new game. While The Last of Us is immensely popular, Sony probably doesn't want two of their exclusive games to come out this close to each other and hurt their sales, so this can be seen as a positive move.

Schreier has been told that the sequel will probably come out in February, though nothing has been confirmed by Sony. With Sony saying that they won't be in E3 this year, expect news on this game before or after the big event.

The Last of Us Part 2 is currently being developed for the PlayStation 4.
