The Flash is set to be Ezra Miller's first solo movie as the titular hero after playing the role in past DCEU films. Leading up to its release in a few weeks, the movie has been receiving a lot of positive buzz with praises coming from key figures in the industry.

However, with all the changes that are coming in the new DCU franchise and the controversies surrounding Miller, there has been a question about whether the film will have a sequel if it ends up becoming successful as well as whether Miller will remain on the role.

So far, DC Studios remains mum on the actor's future in the franchise and insisted that their future will be determined by the film's success.

In a recent interview with The Discourse podcast (via The Playlist), director Andy Muschietti was asked whether Miller will remain in the role of Barry Allen/The Flash for a potential sequel amidst the controversies that they had in the last few years.

However, surprisingly, Muschietti gave a direct answer as he claimed that Miller will definitely remain and star in the role if ever they do make a sequel. He also praised their performance in the upcoming film.

"If [a sequel] happens, yes. I don’t think there’s anyone that can play that character as well as they did," he said.

"The other depictions of the character are great, but this particular vision of the character, they just excelled in doing it. And, as you said, the two Barrys – it feels like a character that was made for them."

Producer Barbara Muschietti also sang praises for Miller and claimed that the actor was "professional" and "committed" during the filming of the movie.

She added, "In principal photography, Ezra was brilliant and the most committed and the most professional [actor]. Ezra gave everything for this role – physically, creatively, emotionally. They were absolutely supreme."

The Muschiettis gave an interesting response regarding Miller's future in the franchise and it does tell us that the actor is still very much tied on the role unless James Gunn and Peter Safran say otherwise as they're still mapping out their plans for the DCU.

There is also no confirmation yet about whether the film will have a sequel considering that the franchise will be rebooted as Miller has not been officially fired or let go by Warner Bros. and DC Studios.

As far as we know, Miller is still The Flash in the current iteration of the DC cinematic franchise and, despite their controversies and legal issues, they are remaining in the role for now.

It is also very telling of what the film's publicity looks like since Miller is entangled with controversies and they know that they can't include him in the press rounds. However, we still keep on hearing praise from the people involved in the film regarding Miller.

For now, let's just wait and see how it will all unfold. At the very least, we know that Miller will not be let go from the role which is in contrary of the speculation from fans.
