The critics have spoken: Nikolaj Arcel's film adaptation of Stephen King's magnum opus, The Dark Tower, sucks, and ScreenCrush has released an entertaining trailer that highlights the film's worst reviews, featuring quotes from critics like: "It's like racing through a meal because you're late to an appointment." This is definitely one of the most disappointing films released this summer, and I'd put it on the same rank as Luc Besson's Valerian and The City of A Thousand Planets. This is pretty disastrous for a film I expected to be at least good. It's definitely not the right way to build up a film franchise; as the this trailer says, this is a way to "kill one".
This Screencrush video is kind of like Screen Junkies' Honest Trailers, and I hope they continue making fun clips like this. I'm just a bit disappointed that the trailer feels too short for such a terrible film. They could have featured more quotes from critics. Right now, the film stands at 18% in Rotten Tomatoes.
The Dark Tower is now showing U.S. theaters.
