We're now just a day away before The Boys drops what may be their most bonkers episode to date (or even in all of television this year) with "Herogasm" which is based on the infamous comic story. There are already a lot of expectations for the upcoming episode since the story is known for its very NSFW tone and it remains to be seen how far will the series go in bringing it to the screen.
Speaking with TVLine, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke made a bold claim about the highly-anticipated episode given its expected raunchy tone which was already hinted by the SFW teaser promo that they released on social media where they warned that it's "not suitable for any audience."
"It’s probably one of the more graphic hours of mainstream television that I think anyone will have seen," he said. "I think you have to really turn to porn to see things that are more graphic."
Kripke also admitted that he was "very surprised" that they were able to get away with a lot of things that they did in the episode given the many sexually graphic scenes that they have.
"When we first started prepping it with Nelson [Cragg], the director, and he was showing us what he had planned, I was just like, ‘Wow, are we allowed to show all of that?'," he said. "They checked with Standards, and there’s like these hilarious rules about how often you can simulate humping and whether or not you can show an erect penis and how long you can show a private part. There’s all these rules, but we were within the bounds of what the rules were. So the answer was we could show it."
However, Kripke pointed out that even though the episode will have a lot of sexual moments, there are still going to be "major turns" and "major reveals" in the narrative of the story which adds to the reason why it's going to be an "event" episode for the series.
"It’s a huge episode for a lot of reasons, not just because there’s a massive superhero orgy," he noted. "We really wanted to give it major turns and majors reveals because we didn’t want it to just be like an episode of Skinemax. We wanted it to be like, ‘OK, oh wow, this is an event for several reasons.'"
It looks like "Herogasm" is indeed going to be a wild episode as hinted by Kripke in his comments and it really sounds like it's going to be a very bonkers episode that might make a mark on television history depending on how far they went with the raunchy moments. There are a lot of reasons to be excited about the episode and this alone should hype up everyone who has been waiting to see it.
