The Batman and MCU Films Dominate the 2022 Saturn Awards Nominations


As expected, comic book movies are dominating this nominations list for this year's Saturn Awards which was revealed today by Deadline. The Batman topped the list with 12 nominations including Best Superhero Film as well as acting nominations for Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, and Colin Farrell. Another DC film, The Suicide Squad, is also competing for the main prize.

The MCU films and TV shows also received several nominations including Best Superhero Film for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Thor: Love and Thunder, Best Fantasy Series for WandaVision and Loki, and Best Limited Event Series for Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, and Moon Knight. What If? also earned a Best Animated Series nomination.

The Star Wars franchise also earned nominations in the television categories with their shows The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Star Wars: The Bad Batch. All of them competing in their respective main prizes.

Meanwhile, the Star Trek franchise on Paramount+ also received recognition with their shows Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and Star Trek: Lower Decks representing the final frontier in the race.

Some of the notable films that have also earned several nominations are Dune, Jurassic World Dominion, Godzilla vs. King, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, and Nightmare Alley.

It is great to hear that these films and TV shows are receiving a lot of honors and it is also proof that there was a lot of genre entertainment in the past year that entertained us. It is certainly going to be a competitive race since there are a lot of possible winners in each category.

The winners will be revealed at the 50th Saturn Awards ceremony this coming October 25.
