It has been over four years since the end of Season 1, and finally The Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2 is official with an April 2023 release date.
The second season’s announcement was made during a special live stream event. Afterward, the official trailer, key visual, and more info were shared online via the show’s official Twitter account and the Twin Engine YouTube channel.
Alongside the trailer, an interview featuring the show’s main star and the staff was released. Check it out here with English subtitles:
In the video, Chise Hatori's voice actress, Atsumi Tanezaki (also the voice of Anya Forger in Spy x Family), shared her excitement for the next season given that it has been five years since the first season’s premiere.
Tanezaki is joined by several returning cast members, including:
- Elias Ainsworth: Ryota Takeuchi
- Lutz: Koki Uchiyama
- Silky: Aya Endo
- Mikhail Renfred: Satoshi Hino
- Alice: Mutsumi Tamura
Also interviewed were director Kazuaki Terasawa and character designer Hirotaka Kato.
The two explained how Season 2 will be different as it has a new setting coupled with the fact that the main character, Chise, has grown.

The Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2 Release Date, Info
The Ancient Magus’ Bride is an anime series that’s based on the manga of the same name by Kore Yamazaki. The ongoing manga is serialized in Monthly Comic Garden.
It got an anime series adaptation by Wit Studio, the studio behind the first three seasons of Attack on Titan. The first season ran for 24 episodes from October 2017 to March 2018.
Following Season 1, production company Twin Engine formed Studio Kafka to be the new animation studio for the second season.
The new studio also produced The Ancient Magus’ Bride - The Boy From the West and the Knight of the Mountain Haze OVA series.
The Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2 will premiere in April 2023 on TOKYO MX and BS11 in Japan. The show will also stream on Prime Video and Hikari TV in Japan at the same time.
Currently, there’s no word yet on which platform the series will release internationally.
