The Aladdin Backlash is What Caused Frozen II Trailer to be Released Early

A lot of fans weren't pleased with the first look at Genie from the latest Aladdin trailer, but they were absolutely floored by how amazing the teaser for Frozen II was. What's interesting is, the teaser for Frozen was actually released earlier because of the backlash on Aladdin.

A fan had joked on Twitter about Disney trying to put out the fire:

To which insider Daniel Richtman confirmed that Disney was planning to release the trailer for Frozen II next month, but had to change plans because so many people hated the look of the Genie.

Personally, the Genie looked just how I expected him to. I was actually fine with him just appearing human throughout the whole movie because that's what they did with the Broadway version of Aladdin. Then again, a lot of people were demanding that they made Genie blue, and that's how we got to where we are now. I guess fans should be more careful with what they wish for.

If there's a positive takeaway from this though, it looks like Disney is listening to the fans. Who knows, if the Frozen II trailer didn't do so well, maybe they would have just released the title for Star Wars Episode IX just to keep everyone quiet.

Catch Frozen II in theaters Nov. 22 and the live-action Aladdin hits theaters May 24.
