Sweet Tooth was an unexpected hit for Netflix when it came out in June 2021. The series hooked many viewers, and, with season 2 coming up, the series is set to once again be a top show on the streaming site.

Sweet Tooth is set in a post-apocalyptic world previously ruled by humans who were ruthless and greedy. Nature fought back and made everyone sick, killing millions of humans all around the world in the process. Just when all hope seemed lost, a new breed of babies popped up – the hybrids who are half-human and half-animal.

The series focuses on Gus (aka Sweet Tooth), a half-human half-deer hybrid who lived a quiet life in the woods with his father. He is forced to travel across the country in the middle of the ravaging pandemic due to his father's death. With the help of the friends he meets along the way, he goes out on an adventure with optimism and pure heart being his greatest weapons. Now that we have a quick review of season 1, here is everything we know about Sweet Tooth season 2.

Sweet Tooth season 2 will return to our screens sometime on April 27, 2023.

The series was already renewed for a second season only a month after the first season was released on Netflix. The cast and crew started filming for the season in January 2022 and were set to complete production by May 31, 2022, recent reports show that production may have been held up for a while because the end date was moved to June 10, 2022. But by the time Geeked Week 2022 came, shooting for Sweet Tooth had already wrapped up. The series shot its scenes in locations all around Auckland and Warkworth in New Zealand.

Most, if not all, of the cast members from the first season of Sweet Tooth, may be expected to return for season 2.

The cast will still be led by Christian Convery, who will still play Gus (aka Sweet Tooth), and Nonso Anozie, who plays Tommy Jepperd or the Big Man.

We may also see Adeel Akhtar as Dr. Aditya Singh, Aliza Vellani as Rani Singh, and Stefanie LaVie Owen as Rebecca Walker (also known as Bear). Dania Ramirez may also return as Aimee Eden.

Other cast members who are bound to return are Neil Sandilands as General Douglas Abbot (or simply called the General), Naledi Murray as Wendy, and Will Forte as Pubba. We will also be seeing Amy Seimetz as Birdie and James Borlin as the Narrator.

There are reports that new characters will be joining the series for this season, but we do not know who will be joining the cast yet. The alleged new characters are JoJo Cat, Finn Fox, Wally Walrus, and Haley Mockingbird.

Sweet Tooth is based on the comic book written by Jeff Lemire and produced under DC Comics. The show was developed for television by writer Jim Mickle, and Mickle is also the showrunner for season 2 alongside Beth Schwartz.

Christian Convery as Gus

Sweet Tooth has deviated from the story of the comic books it was based on. By the last few episodes of season 1, we see that Gus has finally met with the other hybrid children. Aimee Eden is also left to care for an injured Tommy Jepperd, and the General has successfully forced Dr. Aditya Singh to work for him. Bear has also made contact with Birdie (the one who created Gus) at an Alaskan research station.

We hope that the questions left unanswered in season 1 will be addressed by season 2. We expect to learn why Gus was created and how he may have been the key to creating the other hybrids. Season 2 may also show us what caused the Sick, how it spread all around the world, killing millions of humans in the process, and if there is a cure for the illness.

We may also learn more about Gus as a child and how he and his dad lived out in the woods.

Season 2 is not yet out but we are holding out hope that Sweet Tooth Season 3 will be possible

You can watch Sweet Tooth season 2 on Netflix as the series premiers sometime in 2022. You can also watch the first season of Sweet Tooth on Netflix if you want a refresher of all the things that happened before watching the second season of the show.

Apart from Sweet Tooth, there are more shows you can watch on Netflix, such as Warrior Nun, The Umbrella Academy, Bridgerton, and The Witcher.

Sweet Tooth is a bitter-sweet story that teaches us a lot about nature and the consequences we may face if we do not get our acts together as humans. Season 2 may potentially come with the same underlying message. We are more than ready to join Gus once again as he continues his journey with the family he made.
