(Warning: This article contains spoilers for Stranger Things Season 4)
Aside from the horrifying conflict with Vecna, the show also focused on Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Steve's (Joe Keery) reconciliation from being exes in the first season. Although the two have never interacted again in the previous seasons due to Nancy's relationship with Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), Stranger Things Season 4 surprisingly brought back Nancy and Steve's chemistry.
Natalia Dyer, who plays Nancy Wheeler on the show also has no idea whether her character would end up with either Jonathan or Steve. In the latest season, Steve thanks Nancy for giving him a 'wake-up call' but also questions if they would've worked if it happened earlier. However, when Nancy reunited with Jonathan in the finale, she appears to be totally confused about the relationship. So, is it Jonathan or Steve?
"It’s really tough. I don’t know," Dyer admitted to Variety. "It feels like she’s been in a relationship for a while so maybe she needs some self-discovery time. It’s a bit complicated. Whatever happens, I would hope that she does it with integrity. I just think she’s stronger now. I think she’s more sure of herself. So whatever she decides to do, she’ll do it for the right reasons..."
She added, "What this season touches on is the fact that these two people do care about each other and that hasn’t gone away. What that is and what label you want to put on that, I don’t know, but we see these characters meeting again after growing up and going through life with it... Truly, I have no idea where it’s gonna go but I do like that they at least still care about each other."
Jonathan and Nancy from the previous seasons are inseparable even when fighting creatures from Upside Down, and it's no question that the two are the perfect couple. However, Stranger Things Season 4 shifted Jonathan's character arc by turning him into a chaotic stoner, while Nancy remains the fearless woman she is. Aside from that, Steve has also grown mature, which makes him now an ideal guy for Nancy. Nevertheless, whoever Nancy ends up with, will surely unfold when Stranger Thing Season 5 arrives.
