One of the storylines fans are waiting to be resolved in Stranger Things Season 5 is the love triangle between Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Steve (Joe Keery) and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton). Seeing how things went for Steve and Nancy in the fourth season, does it mean Jonathan will be out of the picture?

Nancy and Steve’s romance started in the first season, but it quickly ended in the second season. Jonathan then entered the picture. But with the recent turn of events, it looks like Nancy and Steve will be rekindling their romance, which may happen in Stranger Things Season 5.

Nancy, Steve May Rekindle Romance in Stranger Things Season 5

The fourth season saw Nancy and Jonathan apart. Nancy spent most of her time with Steve while trying to solve the mystery surrounding Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower).

Things even got worse when Jonathan decided not to tell Nancy about his decision not to go to Emerson College, where they planned to attend together.

The two appeared to become emotionally detached from each other and Nancy seemed to be eyeing Steve romantically after everything they had gone through in the previous season.

Add to that the Duffer brothers’ update, via Screen Rant, about the two’s relationship, it looks like a rekindled romance between them isn’t far from happening in Stranger Things Season 5.

The publication also suggested that Nancy and Jonathan might end up breaking up or there would be a love triangle between the three.

Duffer Brothers Choose Between Jonathan, Steve

As Nancy seems torn between Jonathan and Steve, the Duffer brothers weighed in on the issue.

Though they both remained neutral, not choosing between the two guys, the Duffers explained their reasons well to TVLine.

Ross explained,

“The last time Nancy really spent time with [Steve] was the first couple episodes of Season 2, where he was a very different person. … So, the Steve that Nancy knew and spent time with is not the Steve that we have all come to know and love.

Matt added,

“Steve has grown immensely, as has Nancy, so what happens when you add that on top of the fact that she and Jonathan [were] separated by such distance?”

Natalia Dyer Weighed In on Her On-Screen Character’s Love Problem

In an interview with Collider, Dyer revealed that romance was the least of Nancy’s problems in Stranger Things Season 5 amid everything they had all been through.

She stated,

“I think in the context of everything that's going on, it's really hard to be like, 'Who's she gonna end up with?' And it's like, 'Well, in the world of our characters, the world is potentially gonna end and they just had this giant rift thing, and they just narrowly escaped death again. I don't know!' I don't know. Who's to say who she's gonna end up with? It's a really funny thing, but I like that it interests people still."

By the looks of it, fans have to wait and see what will happen between Nancy, Steve and Jonathan in Stranger Things Season 5.
