David Harbour has instantly become a fan-favorite after the success of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things. However, as the show is about to end with Stranger Things Season 5, the actor himself is excited about the finale, and here’s why.

Harbour admitted that his role in the series as Jim Hopper is his favorite character to play. He has been part of the show since the start, and now that the end is coming in Stranger Things Season 5, he’s about to hang Hopper’s hat and retire from the role. So, what can he say about it?

David Harbour is Excited about Stranger Things Season 5 Ending

In an interview with the Phase Zero podcast, the 47-year-old revealed that he’s now excited for the science-fiction series to end as he’s already looking forward to doing other things.

“I’m excited for it to be the end because I’m excited to do other things,” he said.

“There’s so many other things which I wanna do, and at the same time, it's my favorite character that I’ve ever played, and those guys, the Duffer brothers, are my favorite guys, and they make my favorite stuff,” he continued. “So, of course, it has a real sadness to it.”

Harbour is thankful, though, that they know where the show is going, and it’s not cancelled all of a sudden, just like what other series experienced.

“It’s like, we know it, and so in that way, I’ll be able to pour my soul into this year of filming, or however long it'll take to shoot eight episodes,” he added. “I’ll be able to pour my soul into Jim Hopper, who I’ve loved, but in a way, it’ll be a real consummation as opposed to something where I have to feel sad or all kinds of things about it, and I can really just do it.”

David Harbour to Say Goodbye to Jim Hopper

Meanwhile, in a different interview with Collider, Harbour seems ready to say goodbye to his beloved character as he prepares for Stranger Things Season 5 production next year.

"It will be my goodbye to Jim Hopper, which is a big deal," he stated. “Fortunately, I feel like I have a long time to say goodbye because I think we're going to take a long time shooting these episodes."

Harbour has played the role of the former chief of police in the series.

In the previous season, he was finally reunited with his lady love, Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder), after she and her friend, Murray (Brett Gelman), saved him from a Russian prison camp.

At the season finale, he was reunited with his would-be daughter, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), and the rest of the gang in Hawkins.

However, they all must prepare for their final battle against Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) in Stranger Things Season 5.
